Caroline Carlson is the author of The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates, a funny and fantastical series of novels for young readers. Harvey Oyer is a fifth generation South Floridian, an archeologist and an attorney. He draws upon his wealth of knowledge to write books about his great-grand uncle, Charlie Pierce. The Pierce family was the first non-native family to live in Southeast Florida. James Ponti  is the author of Dead City, which is on the 2014-2015 SSYRA Middle School List and the first in a three-book series published by Aladdin. The second book in the series, Blue Moon, is already out and the final book will be published in 2015. He is also the author of Aladdin's upcoming Florian Bates book series, described as a cross between Encyclopedia Brown and Wes Anderson. In addition to writing books, Ponti has spent years as a television writer/producer working for the likes of Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, PBS, and History Channel. Liesl Shurtli,is the author of Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin, which won over kids and critics alike, earning the 2014 IRA Children's and Young Adult Award for Intermediate Fiction and a starred review from Kirkus proclaiming it "as good as gold." Sunday, April 12, 2:00-4:00pm, Mandel Public Library, West Palm Beach, 2nd Annual April is for Authors Day 2!  Day 2 is an Emerging Authors Information Workshop.  A panel discussion featuring experts in publishing, self-publishing, and e-publishing, with opportunities for emerging authors (Children and Young Adult literature) to interact with panelists and other event authors. Students and adults can take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions to experts in the field of publishing and genres.  The address for the Mandel Library is 411 Clematis St.  Parking is free on Sundays.

The mission of April is for Authors is to provide a county-wide literary experience bringing together authors, teachers, students and families to share their love of books. 

But an event such as April is for Authors cannot exist without the financial support of the community, especially those of you who love books and want to help promoting kids living literate lives! Why not consider being a friend of April is for Authors? An annual donation to the April is for Authors Foundation Inc will help to ensure that April is for Authors can continue this year and for years to come!
