Harvey Oyer, local archeologist, historian, attorney and third year participant at April is for Authors was recently named Florida Distinguished Author by the Board of Trustees of the Florida House. Florida is the only state of the fifty with an embassy in Washington, D.C. The Florida House showcases Florida's culture and diversity. Congratulations!
Aihber Khan is our youngest author and already a philanthropist! Aihber wrote her first novel at age 10. Her debut novel was Alana and the .... Aihber donates 10% of her book sales to education. She has already donated to the YWCA, the Mandel Library of West Palm Beach, the North Palm Beach Library and her schools. Aihber is now partnering with the Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative to support educational programs for children in western Kenya. Jim Cummings, founder of Kijana, will also be at April is for Authors!
April is for Authors Partners: School District of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Gardens High School, Palm Beach County Library System, Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County, North Palm Beach County Branch of the American Association of University Women, and Kiwanis Club of Singer Island Sunrise and the Russ Corser Foundation.
Created by a group of dedicated Palm Beach County educators as a way for students to interact with their favorite authors, April is for Authors, provides not only a valuable experience for the children, but also an opportunity for authors and illustrators to connect with their audience as well as key decision makers in the local literacy programs.
